PA Chamber names 2011 chairman; welcomes new directors

HARRISBURG, PA – Ed Sheehan, president and CEO of Johnstown-based Concurrent Technologies Corporation, was elected chairman of the Pennsylvania Chamber of Business and Industry’s Board of Directors at its annual membership/board meeting on Dec. 9 in Harrisburg.
Sheehan, who previously served as first vice chairman of the PA Chamber Board and chairman of the Chamber’s Government Affairs Committee, takes over for outgoing chairman Thomas Hagen, chairman of Erie-based Custom Group Industries.
“I look forward to serving during a time of renewed optimism for job creators,” Sheehan said. “Despite continued economic challenges, the potential for an improved climate for private-sector job creation and business growth is on the horizon.
“Pennsylvania Chamber members look forward to a more positive working relationship with the new administration, and to presenting an energized, unified voice before lawmakers from both sides of the aisle in an effort to get the Commonwealth’s fiscal house in order and the economy back on track.”
Along with his involvement with the PA Chamber, Sheehan is a member of the Pennsylvania Board of Education; Western Region Advisory Board of Highmark, Inc.; Board of Trustees of Mount Aloysius College; Johnstown Area Regional Industries Board of Directors; University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown Advisory Board; 12th Congressional Region Equipment Center; and the John P. Murtha Foundation Board of Directors.
In addition to Sheehan’s election as chairman, the PA Chamber is also pleased to announce that James Scheiner, vice president of New Cumberland-based Century Engineering, will serve as first vice chairman of the PA Chamber Board, while Frank Trembulak, vice president and COO of Geisinger Health System; and Gary Langmuir, president and CEO of Wohlsen Construction, will serve as vice chairmen.
The PA Chamber also welcomed several new directors to the board. The following business leaders will serve three-year terms:
- Verona Dorch, assistant general counsel and assistant corporate secretary, Harsco Corporation
- Carol Fox, president, Columbia Gas of PA & MD
- Jane Gleason, vice president, agency operations, Gleason Insurance
- Timothy Hess, division vice president, engineered and converting products, Glatfelter
- Mike Shirk, vice president, business development, Armstrong World Industries
- David Spigelmyer, vice president, government affairs, Chesapeake Energy Eastern Region
- Daniel Wilson, executive vice president and CFO, Eat 'n Park Hospitality Group
The following directors were elected to one-year term:
- David Miree, greater Pennsylvania regional president, Wachovia, a Wells Fargo Company
- Glenn Rice, east region president, UPS
- LaMar Stoltzfus, chairman, ParenteBeard LLC
PA Chamber members also thank and recognize the service of the following directors, whose terms expired Dec. 9:
