DEP Secretary Krancer leads Q&A session at DEP Quarterly

Final meeting of 2011 updates business leaders on key environmental issues

On Friday, Dec. 1, the PA Chamber hosted its final DEP Quarterly meeting of 2011 at the PA Chamber offices in Harrisburg.

Department of Environmental Protection Secretary Michael Krancer was in attendance to comment on current issues and new initiatives being undertaken by the agency. Rather than provide a standard update, he welcomed the opportunity to take questions from the audience. The open dialogue between Krancer and the assembled business leaders covered such topics as the Environmental Protection Agency’s role in the regulation of the Marcellus Shale industry; DEP’s progress in improving uniformity between the state and regional offices; and impacts to utility companies of air quality regulations.

Roundtable discussions and presentations from other DEP officials comprised the remainder of the meeting agenda. The PA Chamber thanks GZA GeoEnvironmental, Inc. for their sponsorship of the event.

A photo album of the sponsor and speakers is available on the PA Chamber’s Facebook page, www.facebook.com/PAChamber.

A PA Chamber member-exclusive event, DEP Quarterly provides an opportunity for the business community to hear directly from top DEP officials about current environmental regulations and other issues facing the regulated community.

The full DEP Quarterly schedule for the coming year is available on the PA Chamber’s 2012 events calendar, and is listed among other informative conferences and roundtables.
