ChamberPAC's endorsed candidates enjoy election night success
Gov.-elect Tom Corbett among Chamber members' picks for office Pro-jobs lawmakers endorsed by the PA Chamber fared well in the recent general election, with 98 percent winning their respective races. A listing of state legislative candidates that received PA Chamber members’ backing is available here. Candidates backed by ChamberPAC, the political arm of the PA Chamber, included Tom Corbett, who was elected Pennsylvania’s 46th governor. Attorney General Corbett defeated Allegheny County Chief Executive Dan Onorato by a margin of 54.5 percent to 45.5 percent, ending eight years of Democratic control of the Governor’s Office. Corbett won 63 of 67 Pennsylvania counties. He and running mate Jim Cawley received 2,136,683 votes to Onorato/Scott Conklin’s 1,783,581 votes. In announcing its endorsement of Corbett, ChamberPAC Board Chairman and Irex Corporation President and CEO Kirk Liddell said, “Pennsylvania needs to head in a new direction. At the end of the day, Tom Corbett’s ideas are in the best interest of Pennsylvania’s taxpayers, job creators and economy in general. For these reasons, ChamberPAC proudly endorses his candidacy for governor.” ChamberPAC was more active in the general election than ever before, reaching out to PA Chamber members; issuing press releases in support of its endorsed candidates; providing “get out the vote” information; and sponsoring phone calls to voters in targeted districts in support of its candidates for state legislative offices. ChamberPAC supports pro-job, pro-growth candidates who believe in business's rights to compete on an equal basis in the world marketplace. The PA Chamber looks forward to working with Pennsylvania’s new governor and his administration, as well as the General Assembly, to advance policies that will move the Commonwealth’s economy and jobs climate forward.
